On this excursion from Lisbon, we'll visit these two beautiful towns of Sintra and Cascais. We'll also visit the Pena Palace and return to the capital by boat.
At the indicated time, we'll meet at Marques de Pombal Square, where we'll board a comfortable minibus and travel to Sintra - a fairytale town awaits you!
We'll go up Sintra mountain, where you'll find the National Palace of Pena, settled on top of the hill stunning palace with its yellow walls is one of the most charming places in Portugal. It was built under the order of Ferdinand II and is one of the best examples of 19th-century romanticism in Europe. We'll also stroll through the gardens and come to visit the Castelo dos Mouros - a hilltop medieval castle built in the 8th and 9th centuries.
Afterwards, we'll enter the interior of the Palace of Pena and tour the rooms of the Portuguese royal family in the 19th century. The mixture of styles, the details of its decoration and the vibrant colours of its façade will leave you totally captivated and you'll understand why it was declared a World Heritage Site!
Next, we'll head to Cascais, where the Portuguese royal family used to spend their summer holidays. We'll explore the citadel of Cascais on foot, discovering its fortifications, which are more than 500 years old! We'll also visit the famous Boca do Inferno (Hell's Mouth), a chasm located in the seaside cliffs close to Cascais.
To end the day on a high we'll board a boat and sail along the coast of Cascais and Estoril until we reach Lisbon. The views of the beaches and harbours of the towns will be truly stunning.
We'll finish the excursion at the Bom Sucesso Marina at 3 pm.
