Amália Rodrigues Tour
Are you fado aficionado? On this Amália Rodrigues tour, you'll learn the history and career of Portugal's most famous fado singer.
Amália Rodrigues Tour
At 9 am, we'll meet at Calçada de Santana, in Lisbon, to start our tour about Amália Rodrigues, Portugal's most famous fado singer. On this tour, divided into seven parts, we'll find out about the various periods in the artist's life.
Our meeting point, the Calçada de Santana, the place where Amália spent the first years of her life, the guide will tell us about the singer's childhood and her relationship with her family. Did you know that her father was also a musician?
We'll also learn about the beginning of Amália Rodrigues' career, how she became internationally famous, and other interesting facts about her life. For instance, she was forced to quit her studies to work and help support her family, but her passion for music was always present.
Another milestone for the fado singer's career was the 25th April Revolution, which we'll also discuss on the tour! And of course, we'll also talk about her best-known works, such as Uma Casa Portuguesa and Cheira a Lisboa.
In the last part of the tour we'll discuss the peak of her career and her last years of life. For this, we'll head to São Bento Street, where the Amália Rodrigues Foundation is located. We'll explore the museum and delve further into the life of this fado singer. It was Amália herself who asked for her house to become open to the public, so her fans could know her more intimately and on a personal level.
After our visit to the museum, we'll end the tour and part ways.
